Here's the final Trapper portrait:
The finishing touches were adding highlights to his fur, cleaning up the spots on his face, and adding background shadow to bring out his ear and face.
Remember, next session is "Viewer's choice" - send in your landscape photos for us to sketch. I will collect the photos this weekend and select an interesting photo to sketch.

Art Jam July 4th Challenge
My art group decided to hold a challenge this July 4th since we've been unable to meet due to COVID-19. Our instigator sent us each an assignment that we were to complete by July 4th and post to our Facebook page. This was my submittal:

SIP-n-Sketch, finished Jerry's portrait

| Jerry, 6/2020 |
I finished Jerry's portrait today. For reference, I adjusted Jerry's hairline, added more red tones to his skin color, added texture to his shirt fabric, and erased stray pencil marks. Hope you get a chance to work on your portraits. Remember to bring your pet photos for Monday's SIP-n-Sketch.

Piedmont Art Walk, Saturday, June 13, 2020 - Update
Natalie and I thoroughly enjoyed Art Walk last Saturday. It was a beautiful day, a bit breezy, and many locals came out to view the sidewalk art shows presented by local artists. Natalie and I were so busy, we barely had time to take lunch. At the end of the day, Natalie sold out of her "Quarantine" series of paintings. We were happy to support art in the schools and included additional donations to BLM.
Here are some highlights from the show:
If you happen to be in Piedmont this Saturday, join Natalie, me and other artists in the Piedmont Art Walk - a "socially distant" art show and sale. Participating artists will donate 20% of proceeds to the PAINTS art fund, supporting all arts in Piedmont schools. For more information, see this website: https://piedmontartsfund.org/piedmont-art-walk-2020

SIP-n-Sketch, new project on 6/5
Hi SIP-n-Sketchers:
I hope you are all safe and well in these troubled times. We are going to wrap up our overhead sign project on Monday, 6/1/2020, and start a new sketch on Friday.
One of the most difficult sketching genres is portraiture. People are very sensitive in picking out the subtleties in human faces and if an artist is just slightly off, it is very noticeable to the average person. For Friday's project, please select a photo of your favorite person or a complete stranger and we will each sketch our person. Portraiture is difficult, but is also a very good exercise in seeing people better.
