Coffee break at SFMOMA

Enjoying Calder with my SF MOMA coffee

Visiting from Illinois

This is the couple I met from Illinois:
Their son works as an electrician in San Francisco and has been out here for 8 months. They came to visit him and decided to tour the coast along Highway 1. We met at the Devil's Slide overlook and I warned them to watch their step as they walked toward the bunker. They asked if there was more beautiful views going through the tunnel. I explained that going south would be better. There are many beaches right off Highway 1, where they could turn off and look at the views.

Julian...

This is Julian, a fellow traveler:

Julian is going to work, somewhere near International Blvd., helping with construction or landscaping. He has been all over America; Baltimore, Boston (very cold), etc. His favorite place after living in America for 30 years is Iowa. Julian has many friends in Iowa and they welcome him whenever he visits. According to Julian, contrary to common belief, Iowa has many immigrants and minorities, like Chinese, Filipinos, and Mexicans.

Lanterns Downtown, San Francisco

Acrylic & color pencil on recycled wood, 1/2017
As Chinese New Year approaches, downtown San Francisco and Oakland start installing festive decorations. The glow from the red lanterns, while festive, also makes me feel sad about friends and family that have passed.
