Night drive on the Bay Bridge

The Bay Bridge continues to inspire artworks. At slight shifts in location, the view changes dramatically and can create surreal visions of geometry and light.

Mall Moto, 10/2017

This was on display at the Stoneridge Mall, in the window of a hipster body lotion shop. Yeesh, these mall shops are getting better bikes than the moto shows. Anyway, the 1948 Pan Head was the inspiration for the Sportster 48. I can see the resemblance.

Ale Industries Tap Room, 10 through 11, 2017

Ale Industries has been kind to allow me a small exhibit of my work in their Tap Room. The exhibit runs from October through November 2017. Check out the show if you're in the neighborhood; music on 2nd Fridays. Ale Industries is a local brewery making some fantastic beers. Pick up a growler while you are viewing the artwork.

Bay Farm Island Library, 9/11/17

The Librarian at Bay Farm Island Library, Lynda W., invited me back for another show at the library. The interior is so well-lit with diffused daylight, it's a wonderful space for an art show. I should have made a better artist statement poster though.

Refurbished Theater seats

We picked these out of the dumpster bin and refurbished them for our home theater. They were originally part of a high school theater that was being remodeled. The seats had to be re-upholstered but the frames and springs still worked. I got the family involved in building bases for each set and now we have seating for 5, with 2 additional seats as spare. Fun, fun.

OMCA Friday Night, 7-28-17

The summer evenings in Oakland are really great. It's driving me to hold another Oakland Museum of California vendor booth show. If you happen to be in Oakland, come visit the OMCA Friday Night event, an outdoor party and half-off museum tickets. There will be live music, food trucks, and vendor booths. I'll bring my latest works for viewing and sale.

Summer Saturn

Saturn has been showing up in the night sky this summer. I managed to capture these shots with a handheld camera pointed into the telescope lens. Focusing and capturing the planet as it moves is really, really tricky.

Victorian storefronts in Old Oakland

One of my favorite cafes in Old Oakland is Cafe 817. Whenever I need to chat, discuss a personal issue, or commiserate about work, I like to invite my dear friends to this warm, inviting coffee shop and surround ourselves with the smell of good coffee and delicious food. The cafe is also displays artwork from local artists. I submitted a few pieces for an exhibit, but was not successful. Maybe one day...
